If you want to win at MSC, you must have at least one speed character, which can include one or more of the following: Daisy, Peach, Waluigi, Dry Bones, Toad, and Boo. You can only choose one of the captains as a speed character, but you can have more than one of the Sidekicks as your teammates, however. These speed characters have their strengths and weaknesses.   • A Button: pass the ball
  • B Button: charge the ball/kick/perform Mega Strike
  • + Button: move right on selection screen
  • - Button: move left on selection screen
