Maximilian Kolbe was a righteous man who always put God and others before himself. He gave his life to save a fellow prisoner from being taken to the starvation bunker at a nazi camp in Auschwitz. Father Kolbe was a respectable man whom we all can look up to.

The Beginning

Saint Maximilian Kolbe was born on january 7, 1894 in Poland. He grew up in Poland and contracted tuberculosis. Although he recovered he remained frail all his life.

St Maximilian Kolbe will be remembered forever for his great courage and devout love and respect for the lord. His name should be honored for he did what 99% of most people would never consider doing.

A Familiar Group

During the year before his ordination as a priest Father Kolbe founded the Immaculate Movement. After recieving a doctrate in theology he spread the Movement through a magazine called "The Knight of the Immaculate".

The Tragic Day

Father Kolbe was later taken prisoner and held in the terrible Nazi camp at Auschwitz. On july 31, 1941 one of the prisoners escaped so ten prisoners were chosen to die in his place. Father Kolbe took the place of a man who was a young husband and father. He was taken to the starvation bunker, lasted two painful weeks and was ended by a lethal injection.

A prayer to Maximilian Kolbe:

Heavenly Father, You inflamed Blessed Maximilian the Priest with love for the Immaculate Virgin and filled him with zeal for souls and love for neighbor. Through his prayers grant us to work strenuously for your glory in the service of others, and so be made conformable to your son until death.
