Knowing the pieces

Rules

Pawns, knight, bishop, rook.Queen and King
-Positions on the board-

The queen is always on her color's square.

Pawns can only move forward. They can only capture other pieces diagonally.
Once a pawn reaches the other side, the player can rescue a taken piece and put it in place of the pawn.
Knights move in an "L" shape.
Bishops move diagonally, only.
Rooks move vertically and horizontally.
Queens can move in any way except for the L shape.
Kings can move one space, only. When the king is in check, the player must move the king to a safe location, they cannot play any other piece.
Being in check means the King is in danger of being captured in the next move.

The object of this game is to capture the other player's king.

Who Plays Chess?

Anyone with patience and a love for strategic games would be a great candidate. If you want to exercise your brains and logical thinking, this is a great game for you.

Countless of people ranging from
US Presidents to famous actors and artists have played chess. For example, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, and even George Washington. Actors and actresses like David Letterman, Bill Cosby, and even Kate Jackon from Charlie's Angels.

Tips and Tricks

Players

  • Set up a trap by setting up your pieces around each other.

  • Think ahead of your moves and your opponent's possible moves, do not fall into any traps.

  • Keep your pawns, although they are dispensable, they could be strong pieces in the end.

  • Most importantly, keep your head clear and just have fun!
